Misunderstanding with Praye Tenten caused our breakup – Praye Tiatia reveals

Praye music group

Steven Fiawoo popularly known as Praye Tiatia of the legendary Ghanaian music hiplife group, Praye, has disclosed a shocking event which led to the split up of the famous group.

The trio had gained popularity after winning the maiden Nescafe’s African Revelation competitions in 2004 and was breaking bounds in the industry years after that.

However, the group ceased to exist after Praye Tenten left the group back in 2011 when their career was at a peak.

Years on, Praye Tiatia has opened up about what led to the breakup of the group.

Speaking on the recent episode of D-Black’s UNKUT show, Praye Tiatia said they separated because the group was unable to amicably resolve a misunderstanding with Praye Tenten.

He revealed that they got a hint about Praye Tenten working on an album with another artiste without the group’s knowledge.

According to him, they subsequently confronted him about what they had heard, a misunderstanding ensued and he decided to part ways with the group.

Praye Tiatia stressed that Praye Ho-ne-ho then also decided to separate from the group because he did not agree with Praye Tenten for his actions.

This, he said led to the whole split up of the music trio.

“Choirmaster did not leave. Tenten left first, we had a small misunderstanding at the time and we called and when we were asking him, he said he has his reason for doing this and if not so then [he is leaving]

“He was doing some project with somebody we did not know about and somebody saw him and told us. I think they were recording an album or so ad when we called him and asked him about it, the answer he gave [not cool] and he was like if you guys don’t understand, then Praye Ho-ne-ho) also said if you do not understand then I do not want to work with you again.

“And I was sitting there and me and him [Praye Tenten] were on one side so he left and I followed suit and he moved out and that was it, the whole thing,” he narrated.

Praye Tiatia emphasized that a consensus and resolution between them could have avoided the breakup.

He explained that contrary to rumours, the group did not breakup because of money.

“It was not about money because if it is ₵100,000, we know how to share it. You cannot go for a show, get money and you will take more than me, it is the ego [that caused it],” he added.

The music trio were famous for back-to-back hits in the early 2000’s. Some of their hit songs includes; ‘Angelina’, ‘Kakyere Me’, ‘Otoolege’, ‘Ahomka Womu’, ‘Efie ne Fie’, and others.
