Ghanaian man sets Guinness World Record for Most Trees Hugged in one hour

Abubakar Tahiru is the current record holder for most hugged trees in one hour by an individual

A Ghanaian forestry student studying in Auburn University, USA has engraved his name as part of the record holders of the Guinness World Records.

Abubakar Tahiru is now the current record holder for the most trees hugged by an individual in one hour.

His remarkable achievement saw him embrace a total of 1,123 trees within an hour.

His record-breaking attempt happened in Auburn, Alabama, USA on March 25, 2024 at the Tuskegee National Forest’s Pleasant Hills.

Mr. Tahiru took to his Facebook page to announce the record.

“The most trees hugged in one hour (individual) is 1,123, and was achieved by Abubakar Tahiru (Ghana), in Auburn, Alabama, USA, on 25 March 2024.

“Abubakar is an Auburn University forestry student who is deeply passionate about the environment and sustainable forestry. He hopes his attempt will spotlight the need for sustainability and inspire a call to global community action, a publication on the website of the Guinness World Record confirmed Abubakar’s impressive achievement.

As a forestry student at the Auburn University, Abubakar’s passion for promoting sustainability, environmental awareness and true love for trees served as the driving force behind his ambitious endeavour.

In addition to making history with each tree he embraced, his goal was to draw attention to the urgent need for international environmental initiatives.
