Kojo Bonsu monitors Voter Registration in Ashanti Region

Former Mayor of Kumasi and the 2023 NDC Presidential Candidate aspirant, Hon. Kojo Bonsu on Tuesday began a working visit to centres where the Electoral Commission of Ghana has designated to carry out the limited voter registration exercises in the Ashanti Region.

Beginning from the Kumasi Metropolis, the former Ghana Oil Managing Director visited the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) where the EC has combined six (6) constituencies to have their registration.

Speaking to the media, Mr Bonsu revealed that even though the process has thus far been smooth, he bemoaned the reason why EC has to let people come from far away places just to come register for a voter ID card when it could have been done at the polling centres within the various constituencies.

He added that this could discourage first-time voters from coming to register since they had to spend money to travel to register which in the long run will disenfranchise them.

The Sports Administrator used the opportunity to admonish everyone and political parties to desist from any form of violence and intimidation to allow everyone to register and exercise their constitutional rights come December 7.

Hon Kojo Bonsu and his team are expected to continue with the monitoring for the rest of the registration days.
