Legendary Highlife musician, Nana Acheampong has debunked the long-held public opinion about any bad blood between himself and colleague musician, Daddy Lumba.

Speaking on Accra FM, Nana Acheampong said although some of their tracks released seem to depict that they were at each other, it was only meant to entertain their fans.

The duo had formed a music group called the Lumba Brothers in the late 80s after they met in Germany.

However, they later departed for solo careers. Their break-up caused bitterness amongst their fans with many drawing deductions for the cause of the break-up with insinuations that love for money and women may have caused their parting.

But addressing this long-held public view about their break-up, Nana Acheampong said there is no ill relationship between them.

He stressed that on the contrary to public perception, he has never recorded and ‘diss’ song for Daddy Lumba nor any other artiste rather his music were life lessons.

“In my opinion, those sings were not made about me. I don’t claim them for myself and vice-versa. These were just songs to entertain our fans. I have no beef song.

“It may look as though we started the beef phenomenon but me and my brother with whom people say I had a beef, had nothing ill going on between us. We had no problem, not for s single day,” he said on Monday, April 22.

“What happened was that after we made music together for a while, we parted. People thought it was money or women.

“The fans were hurt because they had admired us as a duo of young talented music performers and breaking up, for them, was a signal that something big had caused it,” the renowned highlife artiste told Nana Romeo.

According to him, their parting caused rivals among their fans who were rather ‘beefing’ and assuming same was ongoing between himself and Daddy Lumba.

“When we broke into two different music brands, it also divided the fans causing rivalry similar to the one between football teams Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, struggling for one trophy.
