W/R: Engineers work around the clock to restore power

Repair works have commenced on three supply pylons on the Ketan BSP stretch, in the Western Region, after a storm knocked them over.

Some nine communities around Shama and Daboase were knocked off the national grid after the three pylons went down in the storm.

Engineers from the Sekondi District Office of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), on Wednesday, April 23 began repair works.

Sekondi District Manager of ECG Ing. Martin Djan appealed to the affected communities to exercise restraint as engineers work around the clock to restore power.

“A number of our communities are down at the moment without power. We are doing our maximum best to restore power.

“What I have done is to contract three of my best contractors who are currently on site,” he told journalists while on an inspection tour.

He is confident that barring any new challenges, “within the next 24 hours we should be able to bring back the power so that our customers can enjoy power.”

Communities affected by the incident included Inchaban, Shama, Komfueku, Dwomo, Daboase, Beposo, Sekyere Krobo, Anlo Beach.
