Alan shoots down running mate talks

The founder and leader of the Movement for Change (M4C), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, says the new alliance formed for electoral victory, Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC), will select a running mate later.

He said talks of the Vice Presidential Candidate is not on their plate for now.

However, he announced, he has been settled on as the leader of the group, making him the presumptive Presidential Candidate for the December 7 elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Onua FM‘s Pae Mu Ka with Yaa Titi on Thursday, April 18, Mr Kyerematen said the various political parties that came together to form the Alliance are focused on electoral victory and nothing else and have resolved not to be distracted by other talks.

“We have agreed as an Alliance that that is not our main objective,” he stated about the question of running mate, explaining that they will decide on who that person will be now that the idea of an alliance has come to fruition.

“So, now that we are together, we will decide,” he said in local language Twi.

“That one, no one has said they are in because of the running mate position. And all of them are heavyweights and I know God’s hand is in it,” he said about any interest by the other political parties within the Alliance for the Vice Presidential position.

The former Ghana ambassador to the United States also indicated that all the parties which have come together to form the Alliance will maintain their identities.

He said their symbols and names, for that matter, will be maintained only that they want to win power come December 7.

He described his selection as the flagbearer of the Alliance as “without any contention” and he was endorsed for the position.

Among the political party groupings in the Alliance are Mr Kyerematen’s Movement for Change (M4C), Dr Abu Sakara Forster’s National Interest Movement, Akwasi Addai Odike’s Union Government and Third Force Movement.
