Multiple award-winning highlife musician, Kofi Kinaata has said among all his three nominations for the TGMA, his keen interest is to win the Reggae song of the Year category.
Kinaata explained that the Reggae song of the Year award is the only category he is yet to win.
Other top-notch artistes like Samini, Stonebwoy and Episode are also in the same Reggae song of the Year category with Kofi Kinaata.
The ‘Effiakuma Love’ hit maker disclosed this in an interview on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, May 15.
“I want to win the Reggae song of the Year because I don’t have that award yet so I want to win though I am in the same category with my godfather Samini, my senior brother Stonebwoy and Episode. Asey won mami feeli [you guys should let me win],” he said.
He was nominated in the category with his hit song ‘Effiakuma Love’ which he said is a “very good song and would be great if it wins the category.”
Kinaata is known to be the best songwriter after winning the award for four consecutive times.
Speaking on this achievement, the musician said he always puts in much effort, conducting more research to bring out lyrics which relates to societal issues.
“That is how I do it. I feel like every song needs to be taken care of. You need to do a lot of research. There are a lot of songs there, why should they come and listen to your song.
“If you are paying attention to all my songs, they can win songwriter of the year especially the Kofi oo Kofi album. If I am to release the songs one by one, each of them would win songwriter of the year for seven years,” he added.
Kinaata has dropped his first EP, Kofi oo Kofi with seven songs is currently streaming on all digital platforms.
