Renowned Actress and Producer, Yvonne Nelson, has notified the Ghana Police Service about an intended protest in relation to erratic power cuts.

In a tweet on Thursday, May 9, the actress posted a letter jointly-signed by herself and two others, indicating their intention to embark on the vigil on May 25.

The letter to the Inspector General of Police noted that the vigil will take place at the Revolution Square at 8:30 am and exit the premises at 12 midnight.

“To demonstrate our frustrations over the unacceptable erratic electricity supply…to give the president ocular evidence of the debilitating effect of the erratic power supply on us,” portions of the notice read.

Yvonne Nelson on April 30 extended an invitation to Ghanaians to join her in an upcoming massive campaign against the recent erratic power cuts.

It is recalled that Yvonne Nelson together with other celebrities organized a massive demonstration against ‘dumsor’ in 2015 under the John Mahama administration to express displeasure over the consistent power outages.

Yvonne Nelson is wishing for same vigil to happen and has courted the support of the general public to join an imminent protest against ‘dumsor’.

The actress made the appeal in an open letter to Ghanaians which was tweeted on her page on X on Tuesday, April 30.

“I am extending an open call to all Ghanaians, organisations and legal professionals who are willing to join me in pushing for meaningful action to address the current power crisis.

“Together we can make our voices heard and compel our leaders to prioritize the needs of the Ghanaian people,” excerpts of her letter to Ghanaians read.
