The NPP held the parliamentary primary to choose a candidate ahead of the April 30 by-election.

The by-election has become necessary following the death of the incumbent MP, John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024, after a short illness.

However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will decide on April 16 whether to participate in the by-election or not.
