EU Ambassador to face Azumah Nelson in a boxing exhibition as part of Europe Month celebrations

The European Union (EU) delegation to Ghana has announced a series of events that will highlight the importance of youth and skills development in the European Union-Ghana partnership.

This is part of the annual Europe Month celebrations in May 2024.

The highlight of the Europe Month events will be a boxing exhibition between EU Ambassador, Irchad Razaaly, and Ghanaian boxing icon, Azumah Nelson, on May 4 at the Bukom Boxing

The boxing exhibition dubbed “Diplo-Rumble” will showcase the boxing talent of young athletes in Bukom, while promoting youth empowerment through sports.

On May 6, the EU and the Government of Ghana will hold their annual partnership dialogue, chaired by Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The annual meeting brings together the Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited to Ghana, with representatives of the various Government institutions, such as the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The dialogue helps to assess the progress made on topics like trade, security, and sustainable development, with the goal to deepen Ghana-EU relations even further in the coming years.

The annual Europe Day Reception, one of the largest diplomatic gatherings in Accra will be held on May 9 at the EU Ambassador’s Residence.

This year’s edition will showcase the strength of EU-Ghana relations with top entertainment and music performances.

European Union Delegation

Senior Ghanaian Ministers and officials, the diplomatic corps based in Accra, traditional rulers, development partners, private sector representatives, civil society and other key partners will be present at the reception.

The activities will conclude with a networking reception on May 24 to celebrate the Europe-Ghana partnership on education and skills.

The EU-Ghana Pact for Skills Programme is a landmark agreement that signifies a partnership between the European Union and Ghana to invest in the future of Ghanaian youth.

A scholarship fair will display a variety of exciting scholarship programmes offered by European universities.

The fair will present an excellent opportunity for Ghanaian students to explore options for pursuing higher education in Europe.
