According to Albert Forkuo Boakye, a researcher and stalwart of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, the NPP lost the 2020 elections in the Ashanti region, which is their stronghold.

With this analysis in mind, he stated that the NPP lost the elections because John Dramani Mahama made significant inroads with the votes he added to his 2016 votes.


On the national level, Albert Forkuo Boakye stated, “When you look at the National level elections, the vote total from 2016 was around 2.5 million votes.” According to my analysis, the NDC received 1.5 million votes out of the 2.5 million cast, implying that the NPP lost the election.
